Caritas in Germany

Providing Help and Support When You Need It

Caritas is the largest welfare association in Germany. More than one million people work as paid employees or volunteers in our roughly 25,000 centres and institutions nationwide. We support eleven million people every year in overcoming different social problems and difficult situations. Each individual care provider within the German Caritas Association is responsible for organising and financing the services they effectively provide on-site.

Advocacy for Disadvantaged People

Caritas sees itself as an advocate and partner for disadvantaged people. We offer support in making their interests and needs heard and in claiming their rights. We speak out against any social and political developments contributing to disadvantage and exclusion.

Creating a World of Brotherly and Sisterly Love

As the welfare organisation of the Catholic Church, Caritas helps to shape the life of the Church and society. The Christian message of brotherly and sisterly love guides our actions, and through the work we do, our Association contributes to the credibility of the proclamation of the Gospel by the Church. Together with our partners we promote the spirit of social solidarity.
